Yuh Okano, a textile artist since 1993, whose pieces are inspired by a deep fascination with the natural world. By getting closer to nature, she achieves her creativity with the community in her new location, Chestertown MD.
In Yuh’s art and design practice, her focus is first and foremost on the raw materials - working to bring out their latent qualities or exploring their connection to man and nature. She looks carefully at both the mysterious products of the natural world and the synthetic fabrics that are possible to create using modern technologies. Yuh develops each works by balancing artistic expression with the economic and creative value that is inherent in the raw material.
