Brennen Ernst is a guitarist, pianist and banjoist living in Philadelphia, PA. First captivated by the music of Scott Joplin at a young age, he has become a respected performer of many kinds of early 20th century American music, including ragtime, swing, hot jazz, bluegrass, old time, country, and other related styles. Starting with swing pianist Solomon Douglas in 2011 and bluegrass bandleader Karl Shiflett in 2013, Brennen continues to maintain a busy performing schedule in the Philly and mid-Atlantic areas with many bands including old-time band Five Mile Mountain Road, Hawaiian swing band Slowey and the Boats, and with hot jazz band Mona's Hot Five. In addition to performing as a sideman on many projects over the past decade, he has 3 albums under his own name on Patuxent Records.
