Claudia Konkus has always felt a deep connection with the animal world. Throughout her life she has passionately engaged with animals and their environments. Claudia uses her art as stewardship of animal and environmental conservation. In her art she strives for realism, creating intimate connections between the viewers and her wild subjects. Endangered animals were the focus of her master’s degree capstone and remain the center of her ongoing projects. While Claudia has experience with a variety of mediums, colored pencils continue to be her preferred material for drawing.
She completed her Master of Liberal Arts at McDaniel college under the mentorship of Linda Harrisons – Parsons. During the day Claudia teaches at Westminster High School but remains deeply engaged with her art.
