Design and make a press mold to create a small vessel as a fragrance diffuser or bottle.
Small is beautiful. A perfect pairing with the Essential Oils class (see Human Arts) in Traditions Week 1, this beginning level ceramics hand building class will focus on making forms with press molds. Miniature vessels of porous clay can serve as diffusers to add desired fragrances to spaces, and even be refined into small wearable pendant sized forms. Students learn how to design and make their own molds for replication, which can also be advanced to glazed perfume and/or tincture bottles after the course or if time allows during the week. Demonstrations of slip casting in plaster molds will also be demonstrated. Beginning to advanced levels. All tools provided.
Limit: 10 students, ages 16 and up
Materials Fee: $10 includes clays and corks, perhaps plaster
Schedule a week or two, or three! Or, just sprinkle some classes in between other commitments.
