Making pigments extracted from plants and minerals
Discover how to transform pigments extracted from plants and minerals into a variety of artist paints and inks. In the outdoor Grove Studio we will isolate pigments, combine with binders, and make our own tempera, watercolor, oil, or acrylic paint, and also natural inks and charcoal. We will make paint brushes from plant and animal fibers. We will also sew a sketchbook with ancient methods. The week's effort will reward you with a palette of colors you made, and a sketchbook to fill with paintings.
