Raised in Canada, Dr. Sarah Star has lived in the United States since 2002. She first came to the U.S as an undergraduate student enrolled in the Great Books program at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After a brief flirtation with a career in music, she left for University College London where she eventually earned a Ph. D. in philosophy of science. Since 2012, she has been teaching courses in Philosophy and Religion at Carroll Community College. In 2020, she founded Carroll’s Democracy Lab, a community-led project aimed at fostering the skills and conversations necessary to a healthy democracy. She lives in Westminster with her spouse and young son.
