Melanie Nilsson is an educator-activist committed to social responsibility, inclusivity, and interdisciplinary collaboration in science and technology. She has a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at McDaniel College. She conducted research into the causes and treatments of diabetes for 20 years and, through this work, was exposed to the inequities both within the scientific community and beyond. Her current work is focused on breaking down the silos between science, the arts, and the general public to promote a sustainable, innovative, and socially responsible climate for scientific and technological advancement.
