Bio

Ted Klein fell in love with old-time and bluegrass music by way of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. After learning from Marc Horowitz, Ted went on to play regularly in Philadelphia and Wilmington, where he currently resides. His emphasis is on tone, time and with right and left hand freedom on the banjo, and he limits the use of tabs in teaching with the goal to develop the ability to play almost any tune by ear.

Victor Furtado says of Ted, "Ted is a good friend of mine, he’s a real creative and rhythmic Clawhammer player who knows tons of tunes. He’s got a real nice rich tone and has a knack for making tunes more interesting by adding variations. He is a patient, knowledgeable, and fun teacher, and I am confident in his ability to fill in for me at Common Ground!"
