Daniel R. Collins is an award-winning independent filmmaker, performing musician, and poet based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has attended Common Ground on the Hill as a volunteer, performer, student, and teacher for more than twenty years. Dan has served on the Common Ground on the Hill Board of Directors and helps manage the Common Ground Veterans Initiative. Dan is a storyteller at heart. His documentary films focus on telling poignant tales that audiences would never otherwise hear. Dan has filmed with United States Marine Corps combat veterans (From War to Wisdom), undocumented Guatemalan immigrants in United States (Estamos Aquí), social justice activists (The Twin Poets, The Peoples Report), Hollywood celebrities (My Friend Ed), and groundbreaking glass artists from Cuba to California. During Traditions Weeks, you'll often find him hanging out in the "barracks" with the Veterans Initiative, and helping to lead the song circles at the Gazebo.
