Make cuffs, earrings and more!
This fun and fast-paced workshop will introduce students to synclastic forging by using wood blocks and ball peen hammers and punches. This form is very durable and has been used for centuries to make everything from cuffs to earrings and beads. Students will texture some sheet, cut it out, and form it with a hammer over wood blocks. The final step of the project is to polish.
Limit: 8 students, ages 16 and up.
Lab Fee: $10 for consumables
Materials fee: approx. $10 - $30 Instructor will bring metal (brass, bronze and copper) and basic forging tools. The materials fee will depend on how much material the student uses
Students should bring: Jewelry tool kit (optional). Instructor will have tools to share as well as what is in the studio.
