Kristen Grainger and Dan Wetzel of True North lead you through the fundamentals of telling a story through song
Story songs are a fundamental part of the American folk music tradition, and writing them is both an art and a craft. Kristen Grainger and Dan Wetzel are nationally-recognized singer-songwriters who craft real-life stories into soulful narratives that speak straight to the heart. In this interactive songwriting workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of songwriting, including the basic framework and elements of a song, forms and arrangements, and how to identify key lines and ideas that bring a song to life. Using their own award-winning lyrics, melodies and arrangements, Kristen and Dan will show how their stories became songs and help you think about your own stories in new ways.
