Discover all about sewing. Learn to make hems - from marking the hemline to doing a roll-, flat-, or machine-style hem. Discover how to select fabric for function including popular ones like cotton, silk, and wool. Buttons, buttonholes, or hooks and eye, and zippers will be demonstrated as a means of connecting fabrics. Demonstrations will include how to take basic measurements, figure out patterns and alter garments. Students will be guided to create a patch work pillow or shoulder bag with a zipper! NOTE: contact the instructor if you do not have your own machine. There will be at least 2 extra provided.

Limit: 12 students, ages 10 and up.

Students should bring: sewing machine, hand needles, pins, chalk, fabric shears, ruler, and a variety of thread and an easy and fast pattern with fabric. Joanne’s is close to campus for those who need last minute things.
