Learn the basics of this percussive dance form.
This is a class for students who are new to any percussive dance form. We will be learning the basics of Irish step dancing: 3s, 7s, the rise and grind, shuffles, tip downs, etc. Students will also learn the building blocks of Sean-nós dance. Sean-nós is Irish for "old style" and it refers to a style of Irish dancing made popular in the west of Ireland. This solo, improvised dance style is danced close to the floor with an emphasis on keeping the beat, dancing rhythms that follow the melody of the music, and improvisation. Class time will be spent drilling steps and practicing improvisation through interactive group activities and games.
Schedule a week or two, or three! Or, just sprinkle some classes in between other commitments.
