This class will teach the basics of old-time fiddling and is a stepping stone to more advanced playing. We will focus on learning traditional fiddle tunes and styles from the Appalachian region and on the basic bowing techniques and phrasing that define the old-time style. The class will be taught by ear keeping with the oral tradition, but sheet music can be provided upon request. Some knowledge of how to play the instrument is helpful, but old-time experience is not required.
