Dive into the techniques and music of modern players like John Reischman, Sam Bush, David Grisman and a host of others
Expand your stylistic horizons and explore new ideas and concepts on the mandolin that will take you beyond Bluegrass into some exciting, new territory. We’ll take a close look at some of the friendlier tunes in the modern mandolin lexicon, composed by the brain-trust of modern mandolin players: John Reischman, Sam Bush, David Grisman and a host of others. While learning these tunes, we’ll also dive into some new techniques, chord progressions and harmonic possibilities beyond I-IV-V, and some improvisational ideas that you can put to use in these tunes and a host of others.
Open to mandolin students at the beginner-intermediate level and up. Transcriptions of the tunes covered in class will be provided in standard notation and TAB.
Players of other instruments may enroll, but should not expect playing instruction on instruments other than mandolin.
Schedule a week or two, or three! Or, just sprinkle some classes in between other commitments.
