Create clay shields and forms using Cherokee methods and designs.
We will be making slab shields using textures and incising, then pine needle firing outside to add color. We will also be making rabbit rattles (Rabbits are tricksters in Cherokee culture.) If time allows, we can add items such as pinch pot animals. Forms, tools, and texture tools will be provided.
Karin Walkingstick (Cherokee) trained under renowned Cherokee potter Jane Osti. She uses traditional techniques and design elements, adding modern elements of color.
