Learn tunes and techniques for bowed instruments with Michael G. Ronstadt
This is a workshop for bowed instruments that will result in an ensemble by the end of the week. With Michael G. Ronstadt’s wide range of musical influences, ranging in style from folk music of the southwest to blues, jazz, and classical, you'll learn tunes stretching the far ends of the United States, especially from the Southwest regions. He'll also be teaching a handful of traditional Irish, Scottish, and Welsh tunes. Through all this material, we'll talk about various ways to accompany other musicians through pizzicato, strumming, fingerpicking styles, bow chopping, and the combination. These techniques can be very helpful when accompanying songwriters, instrumentalists, and generally for fitting in with many different types of music groups. Bowed instruments are like a one-person-band when used well, which makes it one of those instruments that can be the ultimate chameleon. Bring your bowed instrument! All levels are welcome.
Schedule a week or two, or three! Or, just sprinkle some classes in between other commitments.
