Bio

Susan Boyer Haley learned folk music at home from her parents in Missouri. Susan learned singing from her mother and learned to play the mountain dulcimer from her father. The Boyer Family performed at regional events and folk festivals for 45 years and folk music was central in their lives and community. Susan loved the music she learned at home and took it out into the world. She has been settled in the Deep South for the past 40 years, singing, teaching, and passing on a living folk tradition to her students. Susan’s husband of 47 years, Bill, is a fine frailing style banjo player and the couple has raised two sons. The family lives in Clearwater, Florida, where they enjoy singing to the seventh generation of the family, a little granddaughter.
