Welcome to
 Common Ground on the Hill

The summer of 2009 marks our 15th year of operation.
More than 50,000 people have attended our classes, concerts and festivals.  We look forward to seeing you this summer while we extend our community of Common Ground on the Hill.

The very first step in celebrating our 15th year is a complete makeover of the Common Ground on the Hill website.  During the coming weeks you'll find our graphics will change, catalog and course information will be posted AND podcasting will appear.

Walt Michael & Company
Annual
Holiday Concert

Folk Music News of London wrote:  The gems of the night were undoubtedly Walt Michael & Co. …..with tasteful panache they stole away all hearts, Walt making his dulcimer sound like a full orchestra – tutti virtuosi!

Broadsheet of Scotland wrote:  They [Walt Michael & Co.]  really were stunning. Their joyful sound had a packed house begging for encores."

Chris Smither
Folk Blues Legend

Rolling Stone Magazine wrote:  Bathed in the flickering glow of passing headlights and neon bar signs, Smither's roots are as blue as they come. There is plenty of misty Louisiana and Lightnin' Hopkins in Smither's weathered singing and unhurried picking. So fine.

National Public Radio said:  [Smither] taps his foot to keep the rhythm, much like the late blues legend John Lee Hooker. His finger-picked guitar lines are sleek, unhurried and insistent. And then there's the voice – equal parts gravel and molasses, Smither's singing sounds like a distillation of the folk and blues heroes he grew up listening to in New Orleans.
